Bowen technique is a gentle hands on holistic bodywork technique that uses subtle rolling movements on muscles and connective tissue (fascia)to stimulate the body's innate capacity for self regulation. and healing. Bowen essentially aims to initiate the body's own healing response.
A key feature of the Bowen Technique is the use of short pauses or "breaks" in the treatment.The pauses allow the client’s body time to "interpret" and respond tothe Bowen moves that the therapist has made without any outside influence, which would otherwise distract the brain and reduce the potential for change.
The most common presentations that I see in my clinic are stress, lack of sleep, back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and general muscular and skeletal aches that might have been triggered by things such as accident ,injury or a too hectic life. Because Bowen is an holistic therapy it is not targeting the specific symptom but , rather, the whole body and its healing processes.
Bowen therapy can be of assistance where relaxation is a prime factor in easing tension, pain and anxiety.
The dedicated therapy room is spacious, well lit, warm and comfortable. It is designed to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere that is conducive to the body initiating and harnessing its own healing processes.
Clients are typically covered with a large clean towel which is moved to give access to the area being worked on. The towel is offered even when the client prefers to be fully clothed for the treatment.
There are toilet facilities and there is good on-site parking..
